Energy Driven Technologies LLC (Editekk®) was founded by Dr. Jean Paul Allain while an associate professor at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. The startup was officially launched in fiscal year 2014 based on a licensed Purdue University innovation: directed irradiation synthesis (DIS), one of Editekk's signature technologies. Editekk® currently holds its headquarters at the Kurz Purdue Technology Center in Indiana and R&D operations in Enterprise Works at University of Illinois' Research Park in Champaign, Illinois.

Dr. Allain joined the faculty at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Fall 2013 where he continues to conduct emergent research in complex materials and multi-scale nanoscale and mesoscale patterning. He leads the Radiation Surface Science & Engineering Laboratory (RSSEL), home to his research group at the University of Illinois.  Dr. Allain is author of over 180 peer-reviewed publications and presentations in plasma and particle-surface interactions and has won numerous prestigious awards. Dr. Allain is passionate about innovation and entrepreneurship and was recently named Faculty Entrepreneurial Fellow in the College of Engineering at UIUC.
